With a band name like the Shout Out Louds, there’s no doubt this Swedish outfit is headed straightaway for infectious indie pop, and they pull it off with supreme effect. Although the opening track, “Tonight I Have to Leave It,” is from their 2007 album, Our Ill Wills, the song is irrestible, chock full of 80s-tinged indie influence.
On the first listen (Slacker radio rules!), I was almost fooled into thinking it might be Robert Smith reimagined for the 21st century. From the opening drums to the sweeping string section to the singing style of the lead singer, you will find it impossible to not hit “repeat” several times or drop it into your favorite playlist. Enjoy!
